According to a recent report from AS, Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic’s future at the Spanish giants is uncertain after he was left out of the starting XI for their recent win over Real Betis. The belief is that there’s quite a bit of interest in Rakitic from a number of different clubs around European football, mainly from Italy – and Paris Saint-Germain.
Rakitic is still widely considered by many to be one of the most consistent midfielders playing at the highest level, but as he moves into the next chapter of his career, one wonders what kind of role he’s going to be happy with.
Will he want to be a consistent member of the first team, or is he happy to ride it out on the bench and get the big bucks?
A switch to somewhere like China wouldn’t be outside the realms of possibility, but of course, that would likely require a large sum in order to become a reality.
