The 2019 MLB season continues with a full slate of action on Friday and the schedule is highlighted by some big-time divisional rivalries like the Dodgers vs. Giants and Red Sox vs. Rays. Of course, MLB DFS players will be more focused on individual accomplishment and superstars like Francisco Lindor, Jacob deGrom, Gary Sanchez and Freddie Freeman. All are sure to pique interest on Friday night. They’re among the most expensive players at their respective positions and are sure to be heavily rostered in MLB DFS lineups on June 7. However, rostering big names like that means you’ll also have to look deeper into the player pool to find offsetting value, and that’s why you’ll definitely want to check out the Friday MLB DFS picks from SportsLine DFS expert Mike McClure before setting your own MLB DFS rosters.

When it comes to MLB, McClure is at his best. Recognized in the book “Fantasy Football (and Baseball) for Smart People: How to Turn Your Hobby into a Fortune” as a top MLB DFS player, McClure rolled through last season, producing multiple lineups that cashed in huge.

He’s off to a hot start in 2019 as well, producing lineups on SportsLine that have returned as much as 30x. He’s also finished in the top 1 percent of tournaments multiple times and the top 0.1 percent of tournaments twice this season already. Anybody following him has seen plenty of huge returns. Now he’s set his sights on Friday’s MLB DFS slates and locked in his picks. You can only see them at SportsLine.

For Friday’s MLB DFS slates, we can tell you McClure is targeting Reds first baseman Joey Votto at $2,900 on FanDuel and $3,700 on DraftKings. Votto has had his power drop precipitously in the last two seasons and he’s walking less and striking out more than we’re used to seeing from the six-time All-Star.

However, he’s upping his contact rate in recent weeks, slashing .400/.405/.457 in the last 14 days and a matchup against Phillies right-hander Zach Eflin should work in his favor on Friday. Votto has three hits in five career at-bats against Eflin and has always had success against finesse right-handed pitching. Look for vintage Votto at a great price on Friday night.

Part of McClure’s optimal MLB DFS strategy for Thursday includes rostering Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich ($4,900 on FanDuel, $6,000 on DraftKings), who has multi-hit games in four of his last five. Yelich has followed up his MVP season with an even better year thus far, belting 23 home runs and stealing 13 bases through 56 games with a staggering 1.170 OPS.

On Friday, he gets a premium matchup against Pirates spot starter Rookie Davis. The 26-year-old has a career 7.96 ERA over 31.2 innings and has given up nine home runs while opponents have posted a 1.045 OPS against him. Yelich has just one career at-bat against him, but his Brewers teammates have combined for a 1.279 OPS against Davis in 27 plate appearances against him. So Yelich is likely to have run-creating opportunities.

McClure is also targeting an undervalued player with a dream matchup who is set to explode for huge numbers on Friday. The stars are aligning for him to return huge value, and he comes at a lower price than you would expect. This pick could be the difference between cashing in big or going home with nothing.
