A pair of red-hot Western Conference contenders clash Tuesday when the Golden State Warriors play host to the Utah Jazz. The Warriors (40-15) are the top team in the conference and have won four in a row and 15 of 16. The Jazz (32-24) are sixth in the West and have won two straight and 12 of 15. The teams meet at 10:30 p.m. ET at Oracle Arena and have split a pair of meetings this season, both at Utah. The Warriors are 8.5-point favorites in the latest Jazz vs. Warriors odds, while the over-under for total points scored is 229. Before making any Jazz vs. Warriors picks of your own, you need to check out the NBA predictions from the SportsLine Projection Model.
This model, which simulates every game 10,000 times, is crushing its NBA picks this season. It entered Week 18 of the 2018-19 NBA season with a sterling 212-158 record on all top-rated picks, returning more than $4,000 to anybody following them. And it has been particularly red-hot on its A-rated NBA picks against the spread, entering Week 18 on a blistering 41-26 run. Anybody following it is way up.
Now the model has dialed in on Jazz vs. Warriors. We can tell you it is leaning under, but it has also generated an against-the-spread pick that cashes in over 50 percent of simulations. That one is available exclusively at SportsLine.
The model knows the Warriors have won 15 of the past 21 meetings against the Jazz, including eight of the past 10 played in Oakland. Golden State has been dominant, going 24-10 against Western Conference foes, and is 21-7 on its home floor. The Warriors lead the league in scoring (119 points per game) and are tops in field goal percentage (49.3). From long range, Golden State is second with a 38.6 3-point shooting percentage.
Three Golden State players are averaging 22 or more points with Stephen Curry leading the way at 28.6, followed by Kevin Durant (27.5) and Klay Thompson (22.1). Thompson has bested his average in each of the past four games, including 29 points against Miami on Sunday.
But just because Golden State has been hot of late doesn’t guarantee it’ll cover the Warriors vs. Jazz spread on Tuesday.
That’s because after a 20-21 start to the season, the Jazz have steadily climbed the Western Conference standings and are just 1.5 games out of fourth in the NBA playoff bracket. Utah has won seven of its past 10 games and will look to take advantage of several recent trends. The Warriors are just 11-15-1 against the spread as home favorites and only 24-30-1 against the number overall.
Guard Donovan Mitchell (22.4 points per game) leads the Jazz in scoring and has equaled or surpassed his scoring average in eight of the past 10 games. Center Rudy Gobert (15.2 points, 12.8 rebounds) has also had a strong 10-game stretch in which he scored his average or more eight times and equaled or surpassed his rebounding average seven times.
