The post-trade-deadline portion of the NBA season begins in earnest Friday, with eight games on the schedule. Traded standouts are expected to suit up with new teams, as Tobias Harris joins the Philadelphia 76ers in a huge home matchup with Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets, and Nikola Mirotic debuts for the Milwaukee Bucks as they travel to face rookie phenom Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks. Anthony Davis, meanwhile, stays in New Orleans, and he’ll play Friday night as the Pelicans host Karl-Anthony Towns and the Minnesota Timberwolves. Fans across the nation will be placing wagers on all these showdowns, but if you’re feeling bold this Friday evening, CBS Sports expert Tom Fornelli is going huge, putting together a three-team parlay of best bets that could return a massive 6-1 payout. If you bet $100, it would return $600. If you go big, it could be a great start to the weekend.
A CBS Sports writer since 2010, Fornelli is a consistent winner when it comes to picking games in all sports. He’s proving that now, in the midst of a blazing 25-16 NBA run. Now he looks to improve upon his 61-percent cash rate, zeroing in on three best bets for Friday.
We’ll give one key part of the parlay away: Fornelli is going with the Cavaliers, taking the 10.5 points as Cleveland visits Washington (7 p.m. ET).
Fornelli is aware the Cavs (11-43) are 32 games below .500, and we’re not yet at the All-Star break. But help is on the way tonight, as All-Star Kevin Love (toe) is considered questionable, but is expected to suit up. He’s played in just four games all season, but in those games averaged 19 points, 13.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists. He’ll be a huge addition to a team that ranks 28th in scoring and 26th in rebounding.
Washington (22-32) ranks second-to-last in points allowed (116.6 ppg). The Wizards have lost five of six, including a defeat at the hands of these Cavs, 116-113, on Jan. 29.
“I don’t care how bad the Cavs are, I can’t trust this Wizards team as a 10.5-point favorite,” Fornelli told SportsLine. “Particularly when Cleveland’s covered in 4 of its last 5 trips to DC and the dog has covered 7 of the last 8 between these two.”
Confidently lock in the Cavaliers into your parlay and you could be well on your way to a colossal payoff.
Fornelli has also identified a key trade-deadline addition that will be a huge x-factor in which side you should be all over for another Friday night game. Find out which team it is, and everything else you need to know to complete your parlay selections, over at SportsLine.
